DO YOU NEED ASSISTANCE?
HOW DO WE DECIDE WHETHER WE AND OUR ANIMAL COMPANION COULD BENEFIT FROM AN IN-DEPTH CONVERSATION OR CONSULTATION? Well, sometimes a good way to start is to ask ourselves a few questions like the ones that follow: 1. Do you feel there are areas in which your relationship with, or your understanding of, your animal companion could be clearer, or could be improved? 2. Do you think your animal is happy and content in its life? 3. Are there, perhaps, some areas or little things that you have noticed, that are bringing in some imbalance or disturbance into the lives of both of you? 4. Are you struggling to understand why some particular behaviour has developed within your animal companion that is worrying you? If you find yourself thinking that there is something, a problem or a misunderstanding perhaps, between you and your animal, that’s possibly a good reason for us to talk things over and see if I can help you reach a better place together. So, initially you can use my contact form to message me about the issues you’ve identified with your animal companion and that let’s us see if there’s any help I can provide. Please give me some details of what your thoughts and feelings are and I’ll be happy to get back to you as soon as I can. There’s obviously no obligation to commit to a consultation until we’ve had a chance to chat, but if you’re keen to go ahead following our chat, then you can book your consultation by simply getting in touch with me again and we’ll go on from there.

HERE’S A LITLE MORE ABOUT THE CONSULTATION SERVICE… Our animals mean a lot to us; they are almost always an important part of our family and our lives. Like our other relationships they can bring us great joy. They can also bring us challenges and through these they can bring us opportunities to look at how things could be better. This service is predominantly for the inquisitive among us - and for the open-minded! It provides a chance to look at the many different ways in which we share our lives with animals of all kinds, and what we may be expecting from them and from ourselves. This relationship is key to so many of the issues we may think we are facing. These issues are, of course, linked to the rest of our lives; our past, the present and what we project into the future. It can be a wonderful feeling to realise just how much progress we are capable of making by turning our attention to relatively small adjustments and changes; sometimes just in the way we think or understand something can bring us such huge benefits and emotional bonuses. Many of these things have an extremely sound basis in science and they can be used to create a shift in state and understanding of the way we connect with the best of ourselves and with others. For example, if you’re a horse rider and you’ve lost some of your confidence, not necessarily in jumping five foot fences or hacking out alone, but in your own general abilities, this consultation will be an excellent place to start. You should be able to take what you learn and use it to help yourself in your riding activities or even when you are simply out on your own! The same could be the case if you’re a dog owner and you want to apply what you learn to your relationship with your dog and its training. I like to allow the consultation to be what it needs to be for every unique situation and for that reason I don’t lay down a strict list or a fixed order of what we will cover on the initial meeting. I do like the consultation to be as relaxed and friendly as it can be, taking into account the fact that we must create an atmosphere of empathy for all concerned, including the animal companion - even if that animal is not present at the time and place of our conversation. However, we can look at some of the main features that may form part of the consultation. These include looking at the understanding of how we share feelings with our animals and the highly- adaptive way we and our animals have evolved so that this state of affairs can be the case. Communication on an unconscious level is happening all the time and in many different ways and we look at the relevant parts of this most incredible connection to your own unique situation that you are currently sharing with your animal. Animal Communication may possibly be used as part of the consultation and you can read more of this on my dedicated Animal Communication page if you CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE RELEVANT PAGE. We may also look at how we can begin to understand our own and our animal’s autonomic nervous system and the see-saw we all unconsciously navigate as we shift between states of feeling ‘relaxed and safe’ and that of ‘threat’ and onwards. Although this may sound a little intimidating to some people in terms of the science involved, please be assured that if we need to bring this into our discussion, we will do so in a way that I’m sure you will find interesting and relevant. The subject of stress for both ourselves and our animals is important and it may be that we need to learn about managing stress in real-time and how we may need to reframe it so we can use it to help us, rather than hinder us, when relevant. We may also look at how we can learn to reframe questions and ‘problems’ so that a solution may be seen with greater clarity. We may well discuss techniques to enable us to access our own autonomic response with an aim to getting ourselves used to recognising our own and our animal’s emotional state - and how we interact with one another via this channel. In one’s life and that of one’s animal companion, so many things are connected, rather like one area of a spider’s web is connected to all other areas by such fine and almost invisible strands. The spider, like ourselves and our animals, can sense or feel certain types of sensations or feelings which may be coming to them when an intruding presence, like a fly perhaps, comes into contact with the web and disrupts its normal quiet harmony. It’s very helpful if we can look at any concerns or misunderstandings we may have in the context of everything else that may be going on. There can be great merit in looking at one issue in the context of what is happening within the greater whole, rather than the one issue claiming all of the limelight and, as a result, masking the more significant and relevant problem that has developed elsewhere. Whatever we find necessary to include in our consultation, the ongoing happiness of your relationship with your animal companion is always at the heart of our efforts.
